FdN Wins at American Cheese Society Awards

Fiore di Nonno’s stracciatella was awarded the top spot in the “soft unripened cheese” category at the American Cheese Society’s awards on Aug. 4, 2011.

Hundreds of cheesemakers from the U.S., Canada and Mexico participate annually in the American Cheese Society’s competition. Awards are granted in dozens of categories on a point system. Fiore di Nonno technically garnered second place, but no first place winner was selected and FdN led the category.

Cheese Making Classes at Dave’s Fresh Pasta

Events

Lourdes will spend three nights at Dave’s Fresh Pasta in Somerville teaching the fine art of fresh mozzarella making. From 6 to 8 p.m., Lourdes will lead a hands-on class in Dave’s kitchen. She’ll be using all-natural curds from Shy Brothers Farm and participants will get to go home with their own fresh cheese. At the end of each course, students will also have a chance to sample fresh mozzarella dishes and pair them with wines from from the shop.

Feb. 29, 2012 and March 21, 2012.
$60 per class.

Boston Local Food Festival

On Oct. 2 from 12:30-1:15 p.m., Lourdes will be leading a demonstration on how she makes her mozzarella during the Boston Local Food Festival. The festival is taking place all day at the Fort Point Channel. Lourdes will be presenting at the Congress Street bridge. The event is free.

Cheese Tuesday at L’Espalier

Events

Every Tuesday at L’Espalier, fromager and mâitre d’ Louis Risoli hosts a three-course dinner paired with wines, followed by a cheese tasting and musical entertainment. On Oct. 19, Lourdes will participate with a burrata-making demonstration.
